So I thought I'd just throw it out there. Here are the two hypotheses about wereism/therianthropy I've come up with
on my own. Since I thought of them, I have heard others expressing the same opinion. I do not claim to be the first or only
one who believes this.
Also: I use the words "therianthrope" or "therian" and "were(animal)" or "were" interchangeably. I know others may
believe the two terms mean different things, but I think these experiences are so personal that it isn't enough just to slap
a label on them. So, I use these words, and describe the situation further if need be.

Hypothesis #1:
There is no such thing as shifting.
No P-shifting, no mental shifting, no emotional shifting. This static-seeming theory comes from the over-obsession surrounding
wereism. In all the movies, stories, hype, etc... the only thing that defines a werewolf is the ability to phsically change
into a wolf (or whatever). So weres want to shift so badly, they can feel as though they experience a mental shift (because
P-shifting just isn't possible. Yet.) but it probably wouldn't be so common if the shifting aspect wasn't so heavily ingrained
in were lore. If something is half-human, half-wolf, then wouldn't it make sense for both sides to hold equal power? And why
not at the same time? To me, this is what the modern wereism is like. Weres can't P-shift, so they are convinced it must be
a mental shift and that their two "sides" reign at differing times. But really, it seems like they are "half n' half" at the
same time.
There may be times when a were feels more like an animal than at other times, but I do not think this constitutes a mental
"shift". Disclaimer: there are probably people out there who really do feel that they shift. The above was not meant to offend.

Hypothesis #2:
No multiple phenotypes.
I'm not saying the idea is false, it just seems strange. Perhaps the "multi" is simply a kind of animal that they do
not know about, so they have used the traits of more than one known animal to explain themselves. Perhaps the person just
wants a cool hybrid for fun, and they aren't taking it seriously. Or if they do take it seriously and just want to look cool,
then they may be lying to themselves and the people around them... I can easily see things like a liger or a mule being perfectly
acceptable, since they can be created in the real world, but when you start to see panther-wolf-dragons and the like, it starts
to seem ridiculous.
